THE SCOOP ON POOP! (Frequently Asked Questions)

How can I request a pumpout?

Use the online request form to schedule a pumpout. Additional services can be requested in the notes section of the scheduling form. If you have a unique situation or question give us a shout.

How do I prepare for a pumpout?

  • Be sure there is a clear and safe pathway from where our boat will tie up all the way to your tank's fitting
  • Be sure all your valves are lined up correctly
  • No need to put fenders out for us (we have plenty) but if you do, they should be placed no higher than 2-3 feet above the water
  • It's very helpful if canvases and boat covers are unzipped or removed

What day is my pumpout scheduled for?

Click on the Customer Portal button at the top of the page to find your scheduled pumpout. No password is needed as long as you enter the email address we have on file for you.

What time will you be here?

We can guarantee days but not times. If you have a time restriction please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you. Weather and other nautical conditions may disrupt our schedule at times, your understanding is appreciated.

Do I need to be there for the pumpout?

No! If you're around feel free to say hello but please don't offer to help, we got this.

What do I do if my tank is overflowing?

STOP FLUSHING IMMEDIATELY! Carefully remove the cap yourself or politely call us and be prepared to pay an additional charge if things get messy. And then generously tip your technician!

How do I know how many gallons came out of my tank?

The total gallons will be listed on the service form emailed to you when the pumpout is completed. We have a non-scientific formula based on the flow capacity of our pump, and years of experience. This method requires us to pay attention while the pump is in use so consider that before telling us all about last night's birthday party.

How often should I be getting pumped?

Before it overflows and anytime your spouse says "we need a pumpout".

If I get more frequent pumpouts, is there a lesser charge?

Customers being served weekly or biweekly  receive a discounted rate. See our services page for more details.

What treatment do you use and what does it do?

Thetford's AQUAbio - think of it like greek yogurt for your holding tank

Can you pump out a boat that's on a lift at my house?

Yes,  if the cover is closed please be sure the remote box is unlocked.

My technician told me I have a clogged vent, what does that mean?

A clogged holding tank vent prevents air from escaping (during filling) or entering (during pumping), causing severe suction or pressure build-up. This typically results in strong sewer/fuel odors inside, slow or impossible tank filling/pumping, toilet gurgling, and potential structural damage to the tank. To clear the obstruction check the exterior vent cap, check for kinks in the hose, or remove the vent line to inspect for blockages.
